Ford is recalling more than 1.5 million vehicles in the US in two actions to fix leaking brake hoses and breakable wiper arms

DETROIT — Ford is recalling more than 1.5 million vehicles in the US in two actions to fix leaking brake hoses and breakable wiper arms.

The larger of the two recalls covers nearly 1.3 million Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKX midsize cars from 2013 to 2018. The company says in documents released Friday by safety regulators that front brake hoses can rupture and leak brake fluid. . That would increase brake pedal travel and lengthen stopping distances.

Dealers will replace the hoses. Ford will send owner notification letters beginning April 17. They will receive a second letter once the parts are available for repair.

Ford says it is aware of one accident not to mention injuries due to the problem.

The second recall covers more than 222,000 2021 F-150 trucks. Windshield wiper arms can break.

Dealers will replace the arms if necessary. Owners will be notified beginning March 27.
